Have you been looking to start your own Blog or Website? but still can’t find the steps to follow don’t worry we have got you covered. Learn How to Start A Blog And Make Money
I will show you how to create your own Blog or Website and grow your online presence.
It will only take 4 quick steps in this guide, So let’s get started.
1. Choose A Website Platform
Firstly let, ‘s understand what type of site you need. There are many different types of websites.
A website can be a personal website, a commercial website for a company, a government website, or a non-profit organization website.
I will give you some idea about website types for various niches.
Following are the main types of websites:
1. Blog or Website
A blog is a type of website where the content is presented in reverse chronological order (newer content appears first). Blog content is often referred to as entries or “blog posts”.
2. Portfolio Site
A portfolio site is like your CV. The place, where you can showcase your work and give people options for contacting you. You can easily add a portfolio to your site with stunning image galleries, and beautiful sliders.
3. Informational Site
A major informational site is Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia. Now your small business may not want such a comprehensive site, but if you have information to share or sell, an informational website would fill the bill.
4. Online Business
Now we can cast a large net, reaching literally millions of people all over the world with just one website. With your online brochure or catalog, you can show anyone who looks for and finds your website, photos, and descriptions of your products or services.
There are many businesses that deal in products or services that are not sellable over the web—think hairstylists or day-care centers.
5. E-Commerce Site
Amazon is the best example of an E-Commerce site. You can buy Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more. But you don’t have to be an Amazon to sell your products online.
There are millions of small businesses that use their e-commerce websites to sell their products over the Internet.
Well, You can build all of the above websites using a single platform WordPress. If you are a beginner then don’t worry about this too much. I will recommend you to start with a Website with a Blog.
We are going to use the WordPress platform throughout this guide. WordPress is the most popular CMS (Content Management System) in the world.
You can build any kind of website with WordPress, be it a one-page website, a website with a blog, or even an e-commerce website.
Get A Domain And Hosting
In order to create a new website with recommended WordPress platform, you will need a Domain Name and Web Hosting Provider.
Domain Name is Your website name like yoursitename.com
Web Hosting It is a service that connects your website to the Internet. It is where all your website data are stored.
The WordPress platform is an open-source and free platform. However, the domain name and web hosting will cost you around $4.95 to $5.95 a month, It will not cost you too much.
Owning your own domain name looks far more professional and it helps you stand out from the crowd. The important thing is you will get it free. Later in this guide, I will tell you how to get a free domain for yourself.
Having your own hosting will also ensure that your website loads quickly and won’t go down for hours at a time. It is very important for anyone who visits your pages!
How do I get a free domain name and web hosting?
I highly recommend Hostinger Hosting, which powers over 2 million websites worldwide.
They’re really affordable, have good customer service, and currently, they are giving away a domain name for free for 1 year.
When you get a domain name, you will also get a professional email account like firstname.lastname@example.org. It is far more professional than your Gmail or Yahoo mail address.
Step 1: Go to Hostinger
To begin, go to Hostinger Homepage and click on “Go For It”.
Step 2: Choose A Hosting Plan
Now, you are already on the hosting plan page. You need to select any one of the plans. If you are a beginner then go for the Single Shared Hosting plan. A Single Shared Hosting plan is a great choice and it will save you money too.
Step 3: Choose Your Package Period
The next step is to select your plan and package, for how long you intend to use it.
Step 4: Make Payment
Before you make your payment, I suggest that you scroll up and verify all of the information once again.
By default, you will see the option to make payment via credit card, PayPal and so more.
But if you want to make a payment via PayPal, click on “more payment options” and it will reveal the pay by PayPal option as well.
Step 5: Fill In Your Personal Details
Now, you need to fill in your personal details to create your account. Your receipt will be sent to the email address you enter here.
It’s optional to also add your business name within this form.
Step 6: Enter Your Domain Name
Well, as I promised you will get a free domain too. Just enter your domain name under “new domain”. It was absolutely free.
Easy starting point:
If you’re making a website for your business, your domain name should match your company name. For example yourcompanyname.com
If you’re planning to set up a website for yourself, then yourname.com can be a great option.
Domain names usually end with .com, .org, or .net, but in recent months, a huge amount of domain extensions (the end part of the web address, like .com) have come out, ranging from .agency to .pizza.
Here are my recommendations:
Avoid the weird extensions and go with .com, .net, or .org unless they perfectly describe what you have to offer – and even then, see if you can find a more common name.
Step 7: Create Your Password
After making the payment, you will see another sale page. Ignore this and click on “no thanks” at the end of the page.
On the next page, you will see a confirmation of your purchase, and you will see a screen like the one below. Click on “create your password”.
Step 8: Login To Your cPanel account
Go to Hostinger, and click on “log in” at the top.
In the login field, type your domain name or username and the password which you have chosen or generated. Click “submit”. You are now inside your Hostinger Dashboard which is optimized for WordPress.
