Google Bard was widely released on March 21, 2023, and was created by the teams behind the world’s top search engine, Google. ChatGPT is an advanced AI chatbot created by OpenAI. This chatbot uses massive machine learning and a large language model (LLM) to generate any form of text, including human-like text and can generate a variety of content such as blog posts, social media posts, and more.

ChatGPT was widely released on November 30, 2022, and has since gained popularity and is being used by millions of users on the internet. When it was released, it quickly became popular and was trending all over the internet including social media. ChatGPT, as the name suggests, uses GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer), which makes it more capable of generating anything based on the prompt you give.

ChatGPT was initially released for free, allowing anyone on the internet to use it for free. All you have to do is create an account with your email address and start using it. However, as time passed, they released a paid plan called “ChatGPT Plus,” which includes better features such as faster response times, access to plugins, and so on. However, you can continue to use the free plan, which has no time limit.

Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Their Differences

Let’s look at the main differences between Google Bard and ChatGPT and what they can do. Let’s start with Google Bard.

What Can Google Bard Do?

1. Bard has access to content on the internet

Bard has access to content on the internet and can generate real-time data, unlike ChatGPT, which has a data limit of 2021. It also credits the website from which it generates information.

For example, in the screenshot below, I tell it to tell me “how many goals Manchester City scored and when they played Chelsea FC.” It provides the correct response based on real-time data.

2. Export generated results into Docs or Gmail

You can easily export the text generated by Bard to Google Docs or Gmail. This feature is not yet available in ChatGPT. You can only copy the text created by ChatGPT.

Simply click the “Export” icon to the left of the “Google it” button to export text to Docs or Gmail. You will then be asked to choose the format in which you want to export the response (Docs or Gmail).

3. Use your voice to prompt Bard to generate content

Bard has a feature that allows you to use your voice in the prompting; this feature is useful when you don’t have time to write.

This feature is not available in ChatGPT. You can use your voice to tell Bard stuff like, “Hey Bard, when did Nigeria gain independence?” or to tell it to write a book story for you, and so on.

4. Use Google search to enhance your results

Since Google developed Bard, it comes with a built-in feature that allows you to search the information generated by Bard on Google search.

For example, if you want to learn more about a particular topic, you can do so by clicking the “Google it” button on the Bard interface.

5. Use Google Bard to write code in various programming languages.

You can use Bard to write code in over 20+ programming languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java, and more.

If you have a blog on a free blogging platform like Blogger.com that does not allow you to add buttons to your blog posts, you can use Bard to create HTML button code to put on your blog post.

For example, in the screenshot below, I tell Google Bard to generate HTML code for a button to use on my website and let it make a blue background. It does so in a few minutes.

What Can ChatGPT Do?

1. Use ChatGPT to create blog posts

You can generate blog posts with both Bard and ChatGPT, however, ChatGPT will generate more detailed blog posts for you, as shown in the screenshot below.

For example, when I tell ChatGPT to create a blog post on “Why starting a blog is important for a business“, it will do so in a matter of minutes and will even generate a 500-word blog post on that topic.

Below is what Bard generated when I told it to create the same thing: “Why starting a blog is important for a business.

2. Use ChatGPT to write a YouTube video title

You can instruct ChatGPT to write eye-catching titles and descriptions for your YouTube videos.

For example, “Write 10 eye-catching titles for my YouTube video about the Pros and Cons of Blogging” below is what it generated.

3 Use ChatGPT to create a tool

You can use ChatGPT to create a tool for you even if you don’t know how to code; simply tell it with the appropriate prompt of what you want it to do.

For example, if you want to create a website where people can download Instagram pictures and save them on their devices simply by putting the picture URL.

You can easily do so by telling ChatGPT what you want, for example, “Write a code for me for a website where anyone can download Instagram pictures by putting the picture link” Below is the code generated.

You can do more with ChatGPT and Google Bard; many programmers use ChatGPT in their coding process, and if you are a content creator, these Al content writing tools will save you a lot of time.

Google Bard Pricing

Anyone can use Google Bard right now for free. It currently offers no subscription charge or premium plan. You can start using Bard by visiting the Bard website.

Google has not provided any future plans to charge for Bard. However, in the future, the company might introduce a paid version with extra features and capabilities.

ChatGPT Pricing

ChatGPT is completely free to use, but it has recently announced a subscription option known as “ChatGPT Plus,” which costs $20 per month (per user).

ChatGPT Plus gives you access to faster response times, which means that even if several people are using ChatGPT at the same time, you will still receive a fast response.

It also gives you access to a variety of features, such as GPT 4, plugins like Code Generator, priority support, early access to all future upgrades, and much more.

Conclusion

Now, you may be wondering who won between Google Bard vs ChatGPT. In my opinion, Google Bard wins since it has real-time data and can provide you with up-to-date information.

ChatGPT can’t provide up-to-date information because its knowledge ends in 2021, which means that if you request for information beyond 2021, ChatGPT may not respond, making Bard the winner.

ChatGPT is the perfect place to go if you want to create code or generate an entire blog post, including the title, introduction, heading, paragraph, conclusion, and frequently asked questions.

So, why not try both Google Bard and ChatGPT and see which one works best for you?
